Envoys’ Postcarding

We are currently taking action on two critical two writing campaigns.

First, we are writing postcards to help advance the Freedom To Vote Act. We must stop voter suppression, our democracy depends on it. We have organized a postcarding campaign to write pivotal U.S. Senators and respectfully encourage them to support amending the filibuster enabling Democrats to pass the Freedom To Vote Act.

Second, we are partnering with Radical Hope Project in working to free Nathaniel Pierce from prison. His family needs your help. We are writing letters to the Virginia Parole Board.

Help pass the Freedom To Vote Act.

In 2013, the conservative Supreme Court gutted the Voting Rights Act of 1965. Since 2013, Republicans have launched a wave of state laws designed to suppress voter turnout, which culminated with Trump’s Big Lie about voter fraud, the January 6th insurrection and over 200 proposed state laws designed to suppress voter turnout in 2022. Our democracy is literally under attack!

Freedom To Vote Act provides automatic voter registration, paper ballots, 15 day early voting periods, mail-in voting and one billion dollars for upgrades to state voting systems.

Recent polling by Data for Progress and Vote Save America shows 68% of Americans approve of the bill. Items within the bill also poll very high: 74% want to see nonpartisan redistricting to stop gerrymandering; 68% want to see 15 days of early voting; 68% want same-day voter registration; and 59% want automatic voter registration. And in spite of relentless Trump attacks on mail-in voting, 58% still support voting by mail.

Help Free Nathaniel Pierce

Envoys for Humanity is proud to partner with Radical Hope Project on this letter-writing campaign to help free Nathaniel Pierce of The Virginia Three. After 25 years in jail for a crime he didn't commit, Nathaniel was released with nothing. He received no assistance or mental health care for the trauma he endured in prison. Nathaniel was a happy, healthy man who had never been in any trouble before he was arrested. Released without access to mental health care, Nathaniel began to self medicate to address the trauma and PTSD he suffers due to his time incarcerated. This lead to a DUI accident and an altercation with police. Nathaniel admits to his mistake, and has since completed a drug treatment program. He has also already served over 14 months for an accident in which no one was injured but Nathaniel. - Radical Hope Project
